Encouraging lonely people to seek help

Prevention Matters is a free advice service in Buckinghamshire, connecting people who feel isolated, to social activities, volunteers and community services. The aim is to help regain confidence and independence. So our main task in developing an awareness campaign was to encourage initial contact from individuals who need assistance, or from their family or friends.

Marketing MaterialsCampaign Identity

A campaign built on genuine experiences

Our design team developed concepts featuring real quotes from people who had benefited from the service. A hand-drawn illustration style and carefully chosen colour palette, evoking different feelings and moods, helped set the emotional scene. Most importantly, we avoided any clichés of mental health and isolation, to create an empathetic campaign that didn’t patronise its audience.

Proof that the right words work

The council received an overwhelming positive response from the organisations involved with the service, as well as from the general public. The number of people contacting Prevention Matters has risen significantly and continues to grow, making this the most successful support services campaign in the council’s history.
